Thickness
Use the Thickness form (model > Maps & Reports) to create a 2D gross thickness, net thickness or net porosity thickness map for the selected zones.
Net Thickness is calculated as Gross thickness x Ntg.
Net porosity thickness is calculated per cell as porosity x Ntg x thickness. The 2D map sums the values of the cells per grid stack.
The Thickness Map operation calculates a property value with the Property Type: Volume per Area, which may equal thickness (e.g. m3 / m2), but allows for a much wider variety of units. To change the units, select the property in JewelExplorer and then, in the Inspector, click the General > Unit field.
- Select a grid the property is mapped to.
- On the Zone Selection tab, select the Zones and appropriate Subzones.
-
On the Properties tab, select the properties that are required to calculate the thickness map, Ntg or Porosity.
- To calculate Gross thickness both the Ntg and Porosity drop down boxes need to be set to None.
- To calculate Net thickness, select the Ntg property.
- To calculate net Porosity Thickness, select the Ntg property and the Porosity property.
- To execute the mapping process and close the form, click OK. If not already created, a map item named after the zones you specified in step 2 is created in the Data > Maps folder. Inside this map item you will find the Gross Thickness, Net Thickness and/or the Net Porosity Thickness properties, depending on which properties you intended to create, and can visualize them in the 3D View and the CoView.
A thickness map with a 2D grid object is created in the JewelExplorer in the Data folder.
Zones Select the zone level. This defines the content of the Subzones list.
Select Subzones Select the subzone(s) that the property is mapped to. You must select at least one subzone to run the mapping process.
Combine selected zones in the map If you selected subzones, then select this option to make one map and combine the data of all selected zones. Otherwise, separate maps are generated for each subzone.
Interpolation across small faults Select to apply an interpolated property value across small faults.
Ntg Select the Ntg (net to gross) property. To calculate Net thickness, only select the Ntg property. To calculate net Porosity Thickness, select the Ntg property and the Porosity property.
Porosity Select the porosity property to use. To calculate net Porosity Thickness, select the Ntg property and the Porosity property.
